The Blue Bully Lives!

I got a lot of help with this bike so let me give a big thanks in no particular order to The Guru, Jimmy Nolan, Woolly Bully Captain Chris Hernandez, Jeff Johnsen, The drunk Hoosier who put this rigid on ebay for $150 Buy It Now price, BENJI, Joe of Hells Satans, Louie @ Polini, Shawn, and Jesse Hotchkiss (for the fairing and pinstriping to come). Whooo That's a lotta help. I think I turned a screw or two myself somewhere in there, but mostly it was a lot of amazingness on the part of all these people.

Better pics and fairing and performance report to come. From very first few miles, I can honestly say this bike is faster than I thought it would be and I haven't even taken it up to full speed. Once it hits the powerband, I let off the throttle because I'm a bit worried about this kit. All the top fins are chopped on the head and Polini, not to mention it's my first Polini and I've heard the horror stories. Also, the Polini Blue thing is a coincidence.

Pics of all this week's madness!

Last post I forgot to mention THANKS LATEBIRDS for inviting me to come get photo'd and be put in your portfolio and be immortalized and all that. It's been sooo long since I've been photo'd. I am actually more excited to see how the pics of my bike came out. Here's a preview:

Our first weekly Sunday night ride:

At the Guru's

I also took Kiyoko (my roommate) on her first big moped outing... We went to an art walk:

So I think that about covers this week's madness... now off to Choke.

Down to the Wire.

Well it's looking like I almost assuredly won't be racing in June. My bike is still in pieces unfortunately. I did however receive a bunch of help from The Guru this week. I have to go back down to his workshop to get some stuff customed as well. The seat, the pipe, the fork brace, and the intake all need to be done. To make matters worse, after 2 years of living in Santa Monica, I need to move this month. I'm pretty sure that won't leave me with much for leathers or other race gear.

In addition to getting my bike ready this week marked the first of our weekly Woolly Bully rides. (We start from Stinker's bar on Sunset every Sunday night.) I'd have to say it was a big success, even though Chris got his bike working halfway though and didn't get to ride with us. 6 peds traversed Mulholland drive in the pitch black night. I rode my stock Newport, and I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself for being able to keep up. The trick is never to brake EVER. Check back here for some pics of last night/ this week. I'm being lazy about uploading them, but they are worth the wait, I assure you.
